Two Belizean Scholars Awarded Fully Funded Erasmus Mundus Scholarships

Two young Belizeans will be able to further their education thanks to the European Union’s Erasmus Mundus scholarship program. Giann Vasquez and Tyler Eck have been awarded two fully funded scholarships to study abroad. They will pursue joint two-year master’s programs in the fields of conservation, science, technology, and engineering at leading universities across Europe come September. EU Ambassador to Jamaica and Belize Marianne Van Steen, who congratulated the scholars, also encouraged them to contribute to the growth and development of the country, following the completion of their programs. The initiative, which is designed to foster educational enrichment and intercultural understanding, is a joint master’s degree program that covers the cost of students’ participation, travel, and living allowance. The scholarship application period is open every year between October and January for courses starting the following academic year.
