Two dropouts reported from the UDP Executive slate

The delegate convention for the United Democratic Party is one month away.  In the midst of the campaign among party members, two candidates have withdrawn their names from the slate.  Dr Carla Barnett who was running for the post of Party Chairman has taken her name off the list due to what the party’s Secretariat referred to as personal reasons.  We reached out to her today for comment, but it wasn’t forthcoming.  This move leaves the seat to be contested by Michael Peyrefitte and John Castillo.  Also coming out of the UDP race is Clifford ‘Boss P’ Peters of Dangriga.  Peters had his name in for Deputy Chairman but according to the party, he has been too taken up with personal matters to launch a viable campaign.  This leaves Khalil Belisle of Belmopan and the current party chairman, Alberto August vying for the seat of Deputy Chairman.
