A family from San Pedro Town is also reeling from what could have been a tragic event. They’ve lost everything in a fire. In Steadfast Village, in the Stann Creek District, another family also lost everything when their home went up in flames on December 22nd. Orin Smith, the Station Manager for the National Fire Service, told the media that as a result of the fires, at least fifteen persons are now homeless.
As a result of the fire in San Pedro Town, Juan Chi, the owner of the house received minor burns. Meanwhile, two other structures were spared because of quick action from the fire department and the police in Carmelita Village in the Orange Walk District and on Tibruce Street in Belize City.
It is noteworthy to mention, that following the murder of Daniel Hughes Sr. on Tibruce Street, the police returned to the area after someone had thrown gasoline on one of the houses in what sources were referring to as a reactive measure to his murder.
