A Belize City man was attacked and chopped inside a house this morning. The incident occurred just before five o’clock on New Road at a house where 37-year-old Trevor Gill was sleeping. Reports are that Gill was staying at his nephew’s home when an unknown person entered the house and chopped Gill several times as he laid on a sofa. Gill sustained injuries to the head and hands and was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment. No arrests have been made in this incident.
The second home invasion over the weekend involved an American couple that was attacked inside their home last night in the Toledo District. Reports are that Gayle and Dona Scafe were inside their home in Kuxlin Ha Village when five male persons of dark complexion entered their house. One of the men was armed with a gun while the others had knives. Reports are that the men entered just before eight o’clock last night as the couple, both 86 years old, were sitting on their sofa. One of the men held a gun at the husband’s head and demanded the safe with money. The husband explained that there was no safe and subsequently handed over his wallet that contained seven hundred dollars. Meanwhile, the other men ransacked the house and took a desktop computer and a cellular phone. Love News understands that the men entered the house through a bathroom window.
