Two Belize City men were charged this week for riding around on a stolen motorcycle. Twenty-five-year-old Anfernee Belezaire and twenty-year-old Ervin Ramdas appeared unrepresented in court on Thursday, jointly charged with a single count of handling stolen goods. Belezaire pleaded guilty to the offense but told the court that he purchased the cycle and did not know it was stolen. Meanwhile, Ramdas pleaded not guilty, saying he was only getting a ride from Belezaire. For his guilty plea, Belezaire was fined seven hundred dollars. He has until November 30 to pay, or he will face six months in prison. Ramdas was granted bail in the sum of eight hundred dollars plus one surety of the same, which he met. He is due back in court on October 31. Police say that on Tuesday, August 29, officers on patrol stopped the two men for acting suspiciously. They detained them after they asked Belezaire to show proof of ownership of the motorcycle and he was unable to do so.
