The three day weekend saw a couple more accidents occur. Aside from the common occurrence of fender benders there were two collisions that proved fatal in the south. Reporter Dalila Ical has the details.
Dalilah Ical: “On Friday shortly before 7 o’clock 27 year old Ruben Orlando Cho lost his life in a motorcycle accident. Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvette Head of the National Crime Investigations Branch says Cho collided into a red Ford Ranger pickup driven at the time by 61 year old Estevan Callis.
ACP Joseph Myvette: ”The pick up was being driven by one Estevan Callis: 61 years and he was Eastbound out of Punta Gorda when the Motorcycle rider traveling in the opposite direction veered into this lane causing the collision. The body of Mr. Cho was also seen with his left foot severed from below the knee. The body was transported to the Punta Gorda Community Hospital where it awaits a Post Mortem examination which is scheduled to be done some time later today. Blood and urine samples were taken from Mr. Callis pending the investigation.”
Dalilah Ical: “Cho reportedly died on the scene, his motorcycle was extensively damaged, the impact almost broke the left front wheel and damage the left front portion of the pick up truck. A second motorcycle incident happened along the Stann Creek Valley Rd. on Saturday sometime after 6 o’clock in the evening. 33 year old pedro Shul was also riding a motorcycle when he collided into a bus that was parked at the side of the road. One of the men who was along with the crew and who wished to remain anonymous gave his version of the event. “
Bus Technician: “The bus broke down, the bus had mechanical problem, we were trying get the bus going. In the time that we were getting the bus going a next bus come opposite direction, the guy come behind us on the motorcycle I guess he… “
Reporter: “What direction were you going to?”
Bus Technician: “ We were coming from Pomona heading up to Alta Vista. Just the head up to Alta Vista and the bus had little mechanical problem and that was it, the next bus come and the guy on the Motorcycle come behind and he just run into the back of the bus.”
Reporter: “You were inside the bus?”
Bus Technician: “ Not really inside, we were on the side of the bus, me and my cousin were trying to get the bus going because we had marker on the road, we had cones to indicate that you know that something was a bit ahead.”
ACP Joseph Myvette: “Initial investigation reveal that Mr. Shul was also traveling Northbound on the highway and an approaching vehicle was coming from the other direction which caused him to crash into the parked bus which at the time had no lights. The driver of the bus one Darnell Boland had since been detained pending investigation into this matter.”
Dalilah Ical: Shul was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Dalilah Ical Love news.”
