It has been almost two weeks since 63-year-old Miriam Castellanos was killed inside her home in the Cayo District, and police have yet to arrest anyone for her murder. On November 20, Castellanos was discovered with multiple stab wounds inside her home in the Santa Cruz area of Santa Elena Town. The domestic worker had been last seen alive the night before, but what happened to her remains a mystery. Today, the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, explained that investigators have had a difficult gathering information on the gruesome killing.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “There is some information circulating but we’re not able to confirm those information as yet and so I don’t think we’ll be able to provide a motive, a definitive motive, at this time. There’s an individual the police is looking at who we believe may be able to shed some light in terms of what transpired but we have not been able to find that person.”
Castellanos’ body was discovered by her daughter, who said the elderly woman didn’t have any enemies.
