Two Young Belizeans Join Mexican Football Club Alianza Alebrijes

Two promising young Belizean footballers have been selected to play for the Mexican football club Alianza Alebrijes. Jaheim Mena and Freybin Pagoada have been selected to join the team after a rigorous three-week tryout in Oaxaca, Mexico, which began in mid-June. Mena and Pagoada were part of a four-player delegation from Belize, which also included Deshawon Nembhard and Izon Gil, invited to train with Alianza Alebrijes during their pre-season. The trip was made possible through a cooperation agreement between the club and the Football Federation of Belize (FFB). The young athletes competed for a spot on the team for the upcoming 2025 Apertura season in Liga Expansión, going head-to-head with players from Mexico’s Liga TDP and Liga Premier. The FFB says that Jaheim Mena is working on securing his work visa and is expected to integrate into the team very soon. Meanwhile, Freybin Pagoada will officially join the club during the next registration window later this year, due to an ankle injury sustained during training. President of the FFB, Sergio Chuc, said that being selected for the team is not only a big deal for the players themselves, but also opens up greater opportunities for other players in Belize.

Chuc says the FFB remains committed to finding more opportunities for Belizean players to develop their skills via international partnerships
