Twenty-four-year-old Tyrike Supal walked free from a charge of murder today, after spending five months on remand at the Belize Central Prison. Supal was accused of being the shooter in the murder of 30-year-old, Nigel Jonathan Williams, which occurred in March. Supal appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court this morning before Chief Magistrate Jayani Wegodapola. In court, the prosecution informed the Chief Magistrate that a memorandum came from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, to dismiss the charge against Supal. No reason was given for the dismissal. With that, Supal was a free man. Nigel Williams was fatally shot at the corner of Saint Thomas and Saint Joseph Streets on Friday, March 22.
