UB and the Ministry of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation sign an MOU

In 2020, the Briceno Administration formed the Ministry of Blue Economy whose mandate includes the protection and preservation of Belize’s maritime space and marine resources. The government then signed the Blue Bond initiative, one of the world’s largest debt-for-nature swap, which converted the national debt to marine conservation financing. The innovative deal compounded the need to ensure our marine resources are safeguarded. In light of this, the government is working with the country’s national university to further develop our marine and Civil Aviation sectors. Vejea Alvarez tells us more.
