The University of Belize will have an interim president come August one. That’s because Professor Clement Sankat is demitting office at the end of the month. A statement from the university’s board of trustees chairman Anthony Sylvestre says that Doctor Vincent Palacio is going to hold over as the interim president until the search committee decides on a permanent replacement. The University noted Professor Sankat’s leadership for the implementation of the Transformational Plan and his dedication and contribution to the development of Belize’s National University during his term in office. Doctor Palacio is a life-long educator with strong ties to the private and public sectors. The university says that it looks forward to his kind and reflective leadership to lead the University into its next chapter of development.
