UB Symposium Highlights Education and Innovation for Belize’s Future

The University of Belize held its Annual Symposium yesterday in Belmopan, and the feature presentation came from Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Culture and Immigration, Francis Fonseca. He spoke on the importance of education and innovation in driving Belize’s future.  Fonseca emphasized that the government views higher education as the foundation for national growth, with a focus on aligning academic programs to meet the country’s economic needs. He also highlighted the role of research, technology, and innovation in preparing young Belizeans for global competitiveness.

Fonseca added that the government is committed to strengthening support for the University of Belize and expanding partnerships with regional and international institutions. His remarks drew strong engagement from students, faculty, and stakeholders in attendance.  The UB Symposium serves as a platform for policy discussions, academic exchange, and charting the course for Belize’s future development.
