UB Unveils Human Rights Edition of Journal of Belizean Research

The University of Belize today officially unveiled the print edition of a special issue of its Journal of Belizean Research, centered on human rights. The publication was first introduced in digital format earlier this year, under a European Union-funded initiative aimed at strengthening human rights advocacy among Belizean youth through research, capacity building, and education. The journal features eight scholarly articles that explore current human rights issues in Belize, using a multidisciplinary and evidence-based approach. At this morning’s launch ceremony, contributing authors were given the opportunity to present their work. Among them was Berndina Eck and her team, whose research examined rehabilitation and inclusion as fundamental human rights, with a focus on disability, access, and equity in Belize.

The eight articles cover a wide range of topics, including an examination of the human rights challenges faced by migrant sex workers in Belize, as well as an analysis of the impact of artificial intelligence on human rights within the country. The digital copy of the Journal can be found on the University of Belize’s website, but if you would prefer a physical copy, you can reach out to the University of Belize.
