UDP Attempts Unification

There is an attempt to unite the United Democratic Party but that attempt started rough. This morning, Opposition Leader Moses “Shyne” Barrow told Love News today that Patrick Faber has always been and continues to be an invaluable member of the UDP. This is after an internal message was leaked. In that text message, Barrow told party members that he has (quote) extended an invitation to Hon. Faber to serve as Shadow Minister of Education which he has accepted conditionally. I have written the Clerk of the National Assembly to seat Hon. Faber next to the Deputy Party Leader in the House and I have returned Hon. Faber to the Parliamentary Caucus. We will meet when Hon. Patrick Faber returns to the Country in a few weeks to discuss other concerns as well as his views on how we can best rebuild the Party and win the next General Elections.” (end of quote) We are told that Albert Area Representative Tracy Panton also participated in peace talks. In the message, Barrow also says that he has invited Panton to return to the Shadow Cabinet and has accepted.

Moses “Shyne” Barrow, Leader of the Opposition: “Part of a strong opposition is adhering to the constitution of the party as I have always insisted to you for good or bad because when you start to discuss internal party matters maybe in bad times you end up saying things or disclosing things that would be detrimental to the healing process which is why I have a cardinal rule to adhere to the constitution so we can talk about other matters. The former Party Leader the Honorable Patrick Faber has been an invaluable member of the party, continues to be an invaluable member of the party and we continue to be committed to unifying the party.”

Reporter: What sparked this reunification ? Was it maybe the comments that were made by the former Prime Minister ? Him saying that the opposition was rather lacking and weak ?

Moses “Shyne” Barrow, Leader of the Opposition: “You know I have to guide you to come out here and talk to me about parliamentary matters or anything else. I think you’ve exhausted my good will in engaging because I’ve been very consistent and clear for better or for worse that I don’t discuss internal party matters.”

However, UDP insiders tell Love News that Barrow’s message was premature as Faber accepted the proposal on conditions and nothing has been fully agreed to. Our requests for comments from Faber and Panton have gone unanswered.
