UDP Chairman, Michael Peyrefitte, was harshly critical of the Prime Minister today, essentially saying that the country’s leader tends to talk without thinking. Peyrefitte’s remarks had to do with the Prime Minister’s address made to the people of Barranco Village. As we reported in last evening’s news, the PM noted in a statement that the reason the Guatemalan Armed Forces do not want the BDF in the Sarstoon is because they are enabling drug trafficking on the Sarstoon.
Michael Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman: “If he knows that then he should report it to the proper authorities somewhere. Why doesn’t he do that ? Why doesn’t he report that to the International Tribunal on Crime? Why doesn’t he do that ? Why didn’t he say that in his UN speech ? Say that.”
Reporter: Would you say he was less than diplomatic given that he’s been trying to say that we have to go through the diplomatic channels ?
Michael Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman: “Johnny Briceno diplomatic ? When he said we shouldn’t – as much as we want to you need to call him Johnny Hamas or something like that I don’t know. Not that he’s not diplomatic he is fool fool and talks out of his [EXPLETIVE] sometimes when he needs to think and talk out of his head.
Prime Minister Briceno made the comments during his tour of the southern villages in the Toledo District on October 11 and 12.
