UDP Chairman says Briceno admin is the most thin skinned he’s ever encountered

UDP Chairman, Michael Peyrefitte, is once criticizing the John Briceno administration, and has coined its members as being the most insecure he has ever encountered.  He says his comments are based on the government’s inability to accept constructive criticism.

And while he was lashing out on the government, he also spread some of that upset to the media in Belize.

Michael Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman: “I’m saying you have to be fair. As media you have to be fair. And none of you asked a question the Prime Minister or to Senator Courtenay as leader of government business what he thought about Abelardo Mai telling the member for Albert to sit on a bag of carrots. None of you, I don’t know if you’re afraid of him, but none of you do that. When women are insulted and women are harmed and the PUP say nothing, none of you pepper the PUP ministers like you do the UDP representatives. And what I’m saying is that you need to be fair. You cannot just be one sided. If you’re afraid for the government, you’re afraid for the government, you know but say so too. But I would like to see these same questions be put to them the way you guys put them to us when a smaller thing occurs than what happens when they’re guilty of certain things in our view. Whenever the leader of our party would write something or produce something it’s for the public to see and analyze and nobody is perfect but we want that same level of scrutiny. We have ministers who said they could kick reporters like puppy and that story just dead. Story just dead. There is no, there is no, “What do you think about that? You think that you should speak to a female like that? What do you think about that?” There’s no question, it’s like they can do no wrong. They do all these things and nobody says anything. But dead cat on the corner the street and “What do you think about that? Shyne is responsible for that, right?” I mean, come on, you have to be fair. And when you all start to be fair then we will be fair back to you. But it has to be pointed out that you all – it’s only softball questions you all ask Courtenay and them. When will you all ask one of them a stiff question ?”
