Tonight, the United Democratic Party is searching for a candidate for the Orange Walk East Constituency after Elodio Aragon Jr resigned from the post. Yesterday, Aragon sent a letter to UDP Leader, Moses Shyne Barrow, indicating that his decision was made based on the current discord in the party. According to Aragon, his only interest is in serving the people of his division and that cannot be done under the current circumstances. In a press release, the politician says “This decision has not been an easy one… and it is only after deep, and careful analysis and consideration of all that has and is transpiring, primarily within the United Democratic Party, that we have decided not to contest this upcoming election.” Additionally, Aragon says that he hopes the party can come together in the near future so as to one day return to office.”
