UK Parliamentary Delegation Discusses Key Issues with Belize Officials

Four members of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association are in Belize to meet with members of the National Assembly. The United Kingdom Delegation, comprising four female members of parliament from both the Conservative and Labour Parties, has met with House of Representatives Speaker Valerie Woods, Foreign Minister Francis Fonseca, Leader of the Opposition Moses Barrow, and Prime Minister John Briceno. The group is focused on discussing issues affecting Belize including the territorial disputes before the ICJ, education, and issues it shares with other commonwealth nations. Love News spoke to MP Vicky Ford about the CPA’s role and how it helps and guides Commonwealth Parliamentarians.

Ford added that the CPA members will be meeting with several parliamentarians during their one-week visit and get a first-hand look at some of the issues affecting citizens. 

The delegation also included UK’s Members of Parliament, Anna McMorrin, Kerry McCarthy, and Pauline Latham
