Police have charged a 43-year-old woman for allegedly assaulting the umpire of a cricket game. She is Yolanda Banner, a domestic worker of Lemonal. She was charged with common assault. She pled not guilty to the charge when she appeared today before the Chief Magistrate, Sharon Fraser. She was released on a bail of five hundred dollars and her case was adjourned until January 29. The incident occurred on June 24 in Bermudian landing. The umpire, Herbert Escarpeta, reported to the police that he was officiating a cricket game between Summer Fever, a team from Bermudian Landing, and Lemonal Cricket team. He said he made a call and after that, he was attacked by fans. He said he was slapped on the right side of his face and when he turned around he saw Banner, who he knows.
