US national robbed at gunpoint in Belize City

Two American nationals were robbed at gunpoint over the weekend on Baymen Avenue in Belize City. The incident happened on Saturday night shortly after 7:00 o’clock near the Sumathi Indian Restaurant. 57-year-old Hans Anderson and his 24-year-old son, Aaron Anderson were walking in the area when the two assailants approached them. One of the armed robbers had a .38 revolver in his hand and grabbed the older Anderson’s pouch, which had his iPod, his passport, his credit cards and some cash. They only got away with a small amount of money from Aaron and his driver’s license. The robbers then fled into a nearby street and made good their escape.
