Police in Hattieville Village responded to a traffic incident just after one o’clock on Sunday afternoon near mile 25 on the George Price Highway. Officer in Charge of Hattieville Police Station, Inspector Rochelle Chan, briefed the media today.
“Police responded to mile 25 after receiving information that gold Yukon GMC with license plate 51992 flipped over and had its occupants thrown to the side of the road from within the vehicle. We responded and we noticed that the people were severely injured and they had assistance from civilians and nurses that were off duty that had cautioned us to wait for the ambulance. So two ambulances were dispatched also I saw the BDF’s ambulance dispatched there and the Police assisted with one of the victims. We learnt their names to be on Sharmane Humes, 33 year of a 4542 Vernon Street address who was critically injured and is presently at the KHMH. The driver of the vehicle was Earl Pitts of a 151 Belama Extension who sustained minor injuries and was released from the KHMH. There were also three minors involved in this accident and they were also released after being treated at the KHMH. Investigations revealed that the driver had reported that he had suffered a blow out and the vehicle flipped over on the left hand side of the road on mil 25 and that is where we processed the scene.
Investigations revealed that the vehicle suffered a blowout which led to the accident.
