Visually Impaired Students Receive Specially Modified Chromebooks
Today was a historic day for 10 visually impaired students in Belize City who received Chromebooks with ChromeVox speech manuals. The donation was made possible by the Republic of China (Taiwan), the office of the special envoy and Customer HD. Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children, Rossana Briceno, says the innovative initiative will help to ensure that every child has an equal opportunity to quality education.
Customer HD has added specialties to the devices to make them accessible for the visually impaired. Chief Executive Officer at Customer HD Jonathan Keane spoke to Love News about the support that their company will provide to the students.
The revolution will provide educational opportunities, as well as create knowledge and independence for the visually impaired. Maria Cal, one of the recipients, spoke about how the donation will assist her as she steps into junior college.
The students received noise-reducing headphones as well as a video demonstration of how to use the devices.
