Voters Named for Upcoming PUP Convention

A list of delegates that will be on the voting list for the upcoming National Convention for the People’s United Party has been finalized today as various groups of the party including the thirty one constituencies, the Belize Youth Movement, the United Women’s Group submitted their lists of delegates along with alternative voters.  According to the Chairman, Henry Usher, once the lists are compiled, copies will be sent to the candidates who are vying for seats in the National Executive with the biggest seat being that of the Party Leader.  The submission of the delegates’ list is the final element that was due and will now be presented to the National Party Council on January 9, 2016 at a meeting slated to take place in Belize City.  At this party council meeting, the venue and other logistics for the national convention will be ratified.  Usher says that after today, there can be no amendments to the delegates list which is why there is also an alternative list accompanying the delegates list, should in the event a delegate is missing, an alternative can fall into place.  The delegates list should be distributed thirty days before the convention date.  Tentatively, until the Party Council agrees, the national convention is scheduled for January 31 in Belmopan, Cayo District.  The three candidates vying for leadership seat are Francis Fonseca, John Briceno and Cordel Hyde.
