Was the public consultation for the Angelfish development project rushed?

The Department of the Environment recently held a public consultation for the Angelfish development project but public participation was extremely minimal. The project developers are seeking to develop a two-acre eco-resort on Angelfish Caye located ten miles southeast of Hopkins Village, within the South Water Caye Marine Reserve. The environmental community is concerned that the consultation was held only days after Hurricane Lisa ravaged the Belize District. They say that the meeting should have been postponed to provide the public with the opportunity to voice their concerns surrounding the project. However, Minister of Blue Economy, Andre Perez, says he doesn’t share the same sentiment.
