Weather experts are keeping an eye on a tropical system located over the Caribbean Sea. The system is producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms with conducive conditions for a tropical depression which could form by early next week. The formation of the tropical depression would be more likely if the system moves and remains over the waters of the northwestern Caribbean Sea or the southern Gulf of Mexico. The development will become less likely if the system moves over the Yucatan Peninsula or northern Central America. Regardless of the development, the system is expected to produce locally heavy rains, with possible flash flooding, over portions of southeastern Mexico, Central America, and western Cuba during the next several days. Our newsroom is in communication with NEMO and the National MET Service for updates.
