Wendy Auxillou Saga Could Reach Settlement Soon

Wendy Auxillou Saga Could Reach Settlement Soon

And, finally on the Wendy Auxillou allegations, reports have reached our newsroom that a settlement between the lawyer and Minister Andre Perez may be reached with a parcel of land.  The size and location of the land being looked at is yet to be confirmed, but even this idea of using public resources to settle a personal matter, Peyrefitte rose concerns.

Michael Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman: “If it were strictly a personal matter then that’s one thing but we’re not talking about strictly personal civil matters we’re talking about criminal activity potentially. You’re talking about sexual harassment, blackmail, extortion and now you’re talking about corruption, malfeasance in public life. So it is not limited to just some okay there’s information sent between two consenting adults and whatever it is they did between two consenting adults. As I said before the UDP is not interested in that. We’re interested in when public assets are at play for private matters. We’re interested and we have to bring it to the attention of the public when you’re talking about extortion, sexual exploitation, we have to. We can’t say nothing about those issues or we wouldn’t be a responsible opposition. I repeat and I repeat a thousand million times if I have to we are not interested in the personal sexual life of PUP ministers that’s their personal business. Our concern comes into the fore when you’re talking about criminal activity potentially. We call for an investigation and we believe it is only proper given the seriousness of the talks that’s going on including the lands and the potential criminal activity that the minister should step away from his duties.”

In the coming days our newsroom will be following up with Perez and the government to get their feedback and perspective on the matter.
