Improvements and additional services are being made at the Western Regional Hospital.  Cayo Correspondent Fem Cruz has the story.

Fem Cruz, Cayo Correspondent: “To find out what’s new at the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan Love News stopped by where we got an interview from Dr.Javier Zuniga the Western Regional Manager who updated us on the new development at the hospital.

Dr.Javier Zuniga, Western Regional Manager: “Good evening once again it’s good to see you just to give you a few updates on activities at Western Regional Hospital. Well presently the Ministry of Health has embarked on filling specialists posts at Western Regional Hospital that have been vacant for many many years. We now have a radiologist on board, an anesthesiologist, by the end of this month we will also have a new surgeon and beginning January of 2020 we are also going to have a new pediatrician and a new gynecologist obstetrician. So basically then the specialists services will be greatly enhanced and so will the imaging services at the hospital  and just to give you a few updates with a radiologist now on board the hospital can now provide quality imaging reports to patients and to doctors to better diagnose patients-;this will also decrease the out of pocket spending for patients so they don’t have to incur a high bill for ultrasounds or x rays and it will also reduce costs for the hospital in terms of transportation and fuel. Soon we will also be able to provide more specialized imaging studies to enhance the diagnosis of patients conditions and that we will let the public know later on. So with this I just want to thank the Minister the CEO and the DHS to make this a reality, it will really enhance the services provided.”
