The Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA) says it welcomes a recent publication on whale shark sightings in Belize. The article highlights the annual migration of Whale Sharks to Gladden Spit Marine Reserve, off the coast of Placencia Peninsula. The articles notes that the area is a unique breeding area for over 20 fish species, which attracts the Whale Sharks. The story highlights that while you can find Whale Sharks all over the world, Gladden Spit is the best place to dive and encounter the gentle giants close up. President of the BTIA, Efrain Perez, spoke about the article today and how he believes such publications bolsters the country’s image.
The country recently observed a school of false killer whales being stranded in its waters.
