What’s the hold up with the Sugar Industry Commission of Inquiry ? PM Explains

Turning now to the sugar sector, you may recall that a part of the deal struck between the Belize Sugar Cane Farmers Association and BSI/ASR was for the government to establish a commission of inquiry to investigate the modernization of the sugar industry. The independent body was to begin work within the first thirty days of the agreement’s signing, but that time has expired, and it’s yet to be established. On Saturday, Prime Minister Briceno was asked for an update on the COI, and he explained the hold-up.
