But another resident from the West almost lost a limb. But this time the culprit was a crocodile and the victim still has a crocodile tooth stuck in his knee to prove it. Cayo Correspondent Fem Cruz reports.
Fem Cruz: “A routine fishing trip this past weekend at a rice field in the Los Tambos area of Spanish Lookout almost turned out deadly for 43 year old Freddy Blanco who was attacked by a 10 ft Crocodile. BLanco explains.”
Freddy Blanco: “Yea I am Freddy Blanco from Los Tambos Village. I was attacked by a crocodile on Saturday at about 11 in the morning. I went with my son to try and catch some fish and we were in shallow water by Green Hills by the Rice Hills and sudden one this animal came out from the culvert and he attacked me.”
Fem Cruz: “He almost ripped out the side of your leg, tell us of you condition right now?”
Freddy Blanco: “The crocodile attacked me and grabbed me by my knee and ripped my knee and one of his teeth stayed in my knee and now I have to go to Belize for an operation to the take the tooth out of my knee; I can’t even move my foot.”
Fem Cruz: “What would you want to see done in regards to that crocodile that is out there?”
Freddy Blanco: “I wish somebody would take care of them animals because really it’s them that protect the animals over there. Why would they protect the animals and not protect our lives, the people life.”
