Where is God During This Mischief
One week ago, we brought you interviews with the Minister of Public Service, Constitutional and Political Reform, and Religious Affairs, Henry Usher and the Leader of the Opposition, Moses Shyne Barrow who spoke on what was perceived as UNIBAM’s demand to remove God from the Constitution. Tonight, however, we can tell you that the matter is not so clear cut, and according to the Executive Director of UNIBAM, Caleb Orozco, there may have been some mischief in the making.
Caleb Orozco, Executive Director, UNIBAM: “I want to establish that such a misquote is ten months too early because there is no debate around the recommendations. It’s ten months too early because there is no public consultation and it’s unfortunate that this question was tabled to the Leader of the Opposition and then a comment was gotten from the Minister for Constitutional Reform and Religious Affairs because what it demonstrates is that even they do not know the legal precedent or the background of what supremacy of God is but it also means that it’s a wonderful opportunity for these two gentlemen to do their homework before they make any commentary regarding a matter that has a legal basis. I remain concerned as a member of the People’s Constitutional Commission that there is mischief being created to distract from the legitimate work of the commission and to use my LGBT representation to promote that distraction rather than for media houses to be focused on the substance of the education process that needs to take place in our citizenship.”
