Why was Nimrod Catzim Out on Bail?

Police Commissioner Chester Williams was also asked for comments on the case involving Nimrod Tillett. Tillett was recently arrested and charged with the murder of forty-three-year-old librarian, Bernard Timmons. Tillett’s record also shows that he was charged with the murder of Yo Creek resident, Abner Novelo in May 2020. The Commissioner explained that in cases like Tillett’s witness testimony is key to a successful conviction.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “For the most part you find that witnesses are not cooperating and if it is that those who may be witness in the case against him refuse to cooperate then no witness no justice it’s as simple as that. I am hoping at this time those who are witnesses will be able to go before the court and give their side of the story in terms of what happened and perhaps then he can be put away but from police standpoint we don’t control the courts, we make the arrests and then the matter is then dealt with by the courts.”

Reporter: can he be out on bail?

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “Well we have a precedent now where after having served five years the court grants you bail if you are charged for murder.”
