Will BSI/ASR Comply or Litigate? Legal Advice Sought Amidst Regulation Dispute

With this current contention and the BSI’s rejection of the new regulations, the question tonight is whether BSI/ASR will comply, litigate or leave.  According to Chavarria, they are seeking legal advice.

Love News understands that these new regulations came about after the BSCFA sugarcane farmers did not receive their monies for 2022 despite their sugar being sold with Fairtrade premiums.  We further understand that at the time, BSI/ASR had refused to disclose to the BSCFA the volumes of sugar sold with Fairtade premiums. That refusal, reportedly goes against the FLOCERT regulations that indicate that farmers’ organizations should be informed.
