Area Representative for Orange Walk North, Gaspar Vega has been notably absent from House meetings since his resignation from Cabinet over a land scandal. Rumor has it, however, that Vega is looking to make a comeback. With the recent resignation of the UDP’s Orange Walk Standard Bearer, Dr. Homero Novelo, speculations have mounted that Vega will re-emerge on the political scene. Vega’s Cabinet colleague, Wilfred Elrington confirmed to the media that there is interest.
Hon. Wilfred Elrington, Pickstock Area Representative: “Actually I had met with him, he had stopped in one afternoon at the building where I am at St.Mark Street and he spoke to me very briefly and if I can recall what he said was that he was proposing to become much more politically active which I thought was a good thing. He’s a young man, he has a lot of competence, he spent a lot of time with those people and he wants to assist, he wants to continue to assist the nation and so I thought it was a good gesture on his part.”
