As it relates to his relationship with Moses Shyne Barrow, Willoughby decided to tell his side of what really happened and how he was booted from the Barrow camp. According to Willoughby, politics had disrupted his love life some 18 years ago when his girlfriend’s family had differing views in party politics. Fast forward to today, and he and his then partner have rekindled a relationship. This renewed relationship with the daughter of PUP’s Gilroy Usher did ruffle some feathers in the political arena. Willoughby explained, however, that the narrative put out at the time was skewed and that in the end, he had no obligation to tell anyone who he was marrying.

Phillip Willoughby, Political Aspirant: “Shyne didn’t approve, to his mind, about me and her tying the knot and being married. He may say that, oh I didn’t tell him who I was marrying. That’s nobody’s business. I choose to marry who I marry. Andrea chose to marry who she wanted to marry. We are happily married but Shyne threw a wrench in it, talking about this and that and then he threw me under the bus. He’s famous for turning his back on people when they fall on hard times. Things happen, you don’t have any control over certain things. You don’t turn your back and leave your friend. If you wanna say something negative or derogative or be belligerent and treat people like a degenerate you have no need to be in politics because politics is about kindness and politics is about love. Politics is about understanding the people’s plight, people’s journey, people’s struggle. You don’t abuse people at their lowest and stomp on them. You don’t do that. And this is not to say anybody did anything wrong. You create the situation. You build the scenario that put people down and trample on them when you can’t have your own way and that is wrong. And that was my experience with him in that regard, trivial as it may be, move that DR, that from in front of his name because nobody with a doctorate degree or no one pursuing doctoral studies behaves like that young man. You could get all the millions in the world and it won’t be of value because you can’t do nothing for you and money can’t buy love. It tricks people for a minute, but the minute you get wise up, you grab what you could get and you’re gone. And that is the story.”
Willoughby made it clear that his support is for Tracy Panton and that he is being well received in the Port Loyola division as his campaign progresses.
