Tonight, two Belize City families are grieving after their loved ones were killed in a road traffic incident yesterday evening on the George Price Highway. The incident claimed the life of an infant child and a mother of one, who both died on the scene. Reporter Vejea Alvarez spoke to the bereaved families and filed the following report.
Police have since detained the driver of the dump truck that was attempting to overtake Reynolds. He was issued with a Notice of Intended Prosecution. Urine samples were also obtained from all of the men who were involved in the accident. As the police continue their investigations, Golda Reynolds says she has one message for the person responsible for taking away her baby boy.
Golda Reynolds, Mother of Deceased Infant: “Mr. I don’t even know your name at this point. I don’t even know who you are and I don’t think I could even face you right now. If you understood what you did to a family, to two families because of irresponsible, because you couldn’t wait, because probably you felt that you need to go do something more than what you needed to do, you needed to hurry you took away two lives brother. Two lives. And then for the mere fact that you couldn’t even have that guts to say let me go face my music, you don’t care. Sorry won’t replace any of this. But I hope you realize and you live with this for the rest of your life. Just live with it.”
