A Belize City woman has been charged with stabbing a police officer while her brother-in-law has been charged with obstructing that officer from performing his duties. Twenty-six-year-old Estella Rhaburn appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today charged with one count of wounding upon Police Sergeant Tian Smith, while 28-year-old Lincey Lopez was charged with obstruction. Both pleaded not guilty to the charge and despite objections from the prosecution, were offered bail in the sum of a thousand dollars each, which they met. Allegations against them are that they were at Shisha 8 Hookah & Billiard Lounge on Saturday, October 14, when Rhaburn began behaving disorderly. Sergeant Smith began escorting Rhaburn out of the establishment when she pulled out a screwdriver and stabbed him in his face and upper body. Lopez joined the scuffle to impede him from detaining Rhaburn.
