Woman, family, and workers survived armed robbery

A 27-year-old woman, her husband, her daughter and workmen were targeted by armed robbers over the weekend.  The victim posted on her Facebook timeline that she is traumatized but grateful to be alive. 

A 27-year-old woman, her husband, her daughter and workmen were targeted by armed robbers over the weekend.  The victim posted on her Facebook timeline that she is traumatized but grateful to be alive.  Three gunmen reportedly tied their hands and feet and placed tape over their eyes and mouth before stealing their personal belongings. Superintendent Alejandro Cowo stated that police believe they might have been set up.

Supt.Alejandro Cowo, Head of Crimes Investigation Branch, Belize City Police Department: “Whilst they were at a yard where a construction is happening they were approached by three male persons who were armed with firearms. As a result she along with other persons who were working at the construction site were taken inside of the building and they were tired and stolen from them were an amount of cash, a firearm and a vehicle which they used to escape. Police found the vehicle on the following day in an area in Ladyville. So far no one has been detained for this incident.”

Reporter: Sir, looking to suggest that they may have been set up ?

Supt.Alejandro Cowo, Head of Crimes Investigation Branch, Belize City Police Department:That is something that we are looking at as we know that they reside here in Belize City and they are having a construction site in that area in Lake Garden area.”

The vehicle was found abandoned. Police currently have no suspects.
