Woman Shot in Leg during Feud
A Belize City woman is on the road to recovery after she was targeted over the weekend allegedly by two teens. Around 10 p.m. on Friday, 26-year-old Rosalind Ranguy was socializing on a basketball court on McKenzie Street with a group of persons when they came under fire. Police say that two armed men indiscriminately opened fire on the group and shot Ranguy in her right leg. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hilberto Romero, explained today that investigators are attributing the shooting to an ongoing feud in the area.
Hilberto Romero, Senior Superintendent of Police: “Information is that she was there with other persons at the basketball court when a male person came there and fired shots causing her injury. She was taken to the KHMH where she is in a stable condition. Two persons are presently detained for this shooting. This is an ongoing level with these persons in that area and the person came and fired the shots and she got caught.”
Reporter: but she wasn’t the intended target?
Hilberto Romero, Senior Superintendent of Police: “We are not sure who was the intended target there were several persons in the area.”
