World Pharmacist Day Celebrates Vital Role in Belizean Healthcare

World Pharmacist Day has been observed every year since 2009, and while the Ministry of Health and Wellness didn’t make much of a fuss this year, pharmacists remain a key part of the country’s health system. The event was observed under the 2023 theme, “Strengthening health systems”. Veteran pharmacist Jillian Campos spoke to Love News on how the profession has evolved over the years and its role in delivering care to Belizeans.

Campos also added that pharmacists countrywide collaborate to ensure that Belizeans have access to needed medications.

In 2009 the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) Congress in Istanbul, Turkey, selected September 25 as World Pharmacists Day. The event is used to raise awareness about the pertinent issues facing pharmacists and encourage those thinking of a career in pharmacy to venture into the profession.
