A young Ladyville resident was killed on Saturday night while a passerby was injured in the incident. Police responded to the crime scene in the Japan Area just after seven o’clock and encountered 22-year-old Egbert Baldwin with gunshot wounds to the body. Love News understands that Baldwin was riding a bicycle on Jackson Avenue when he was approached by two male persons who fired shots at him. Baldwin collapsed and was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, 44-year-old Ronald Cole is recovering from a gunshot wound to the leg which he sustained during the shooting. Love News visited the murder scene and spoke to a friend of Baldwin, Darell Humes who stated that minutes before the incident Baldwin was at his home.
Baldwin walked free from a murder charge late last week in a case that was before Justice Colin Williams.
