Thirty four year old Tanika Lemott was shot to death early yesterday morning. She was with some friends in a taxi on Fabers Road Area when it happened. The group had attended the Christopher Martin concert at ITVET on Saturday night and on their way to the home of 33-year-old Dorris Gilharry, in front of St. John’s Vianney Primary School, they came under heavy fire by some unknown assailants. Inspector Alejandro Cowo Commander of CIB precinct one and two gave the details.
“Sometime after 4am CIB personnel from Precinct 1 responded to a shooting incident on Faber’s Road. Upon arrival to the location personnel observed a male person suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his back, he was identified as Jaime Villanueva, a taxi driver. Also on the scene was one Doris Gilharry suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the chest. A search inside of a car that was being driven at the time by Mr. Villanueva police found a woman who was identified as Tanika Lemut suffering from three gunshot wounds, one to the chest and two the back. The two females and the male person were transported to the KHMH where unfortunately Tamika was pronounced dead on arrival at 4:20am in the morning. At the scene police found a vehicle smashed into the cement fence of the St. John’s Vianney Church. The vehicle was extensively damaged and on the scene they found three expended shells at the junction of Doris Brooks and Faber’s Road.”
The driver of the taxi, Jaime Villanueva was shot to the upper back while Gilharry was shot to the left side of the chest, both of them survived and are receiving treatment for their injuries. Inspector Cowo cannot say at this point in the investigation if the four females were the intended target or if the driver was.
“At this time we are working and questioning several people as to what transpired but we cannot establish what the motive of this murder was. We cannot tell you directly if it was the taxi driver of it if was any person inside of the vehicle, at this time we have not established that as yet.”
Today, Lemott’s grieving sister, Andrea Tucker, told Love News, that she did not deserve to be murdered.
“My understanding is that they were going to take a friend home, they caught a taxi and they left to drop off some young ladies near Faber’s Road and the car pulled up and started shooting them. She got it from behind so she got a majority of the shots. When we got the call and I got to the hospital she had already died. Like I said I have to say to the person who shot up that car they have no love, they don’t have a sister or something to know that if they are following that car to know that it was four girls in a car, four young ladies that had just finished enjoying themselves at a concert. They were heading home to relax, why would someone do a thing like that?”
“Do you know if she was the intended target?”
“No she isn’t that kind of girl, she doesn’t have any problems with anybody. My sister, my friend, my everything. I hope if the police do their jobs and do it well I feel like we will get justice for my sister.”
“What are the investigators saying?”
“Like I told you I can’t really say what they are saying because we haven’t spoken to them yet. All they did was come to my mother to tell her that they have two persons but we don’t really haven’t received any information from them as yet.”
Three men are in custody for the shooting that are well known to the police. The firearm has not been recovered as yet.
