Alumni of the Love Foundation’s Youth Ambassadors Program will be launching a podcast, giving young people a platform to discuss social issues affecting them. Today, the studio where these podcasts will be recorded was officially inaugurated in Belize City. The Advancing Leadership through Action Center is being housed at the Belize Friends Center on Central American Boulevard. The center was established through funding from the United States Embassy via a fund that supports community projects. Luke Martin, Public Affairs Officer at the Embassy, explained that the eighty-thousand-dollar project covered the equipment and training.
The podcasts will be released in a six-episode series and will feature discussions between youths and professionals from various fields on a given topic. Deborah Erskine, Managing Director for the Love Foundation, says that the ambassadors decided to make podcasts to make the conversations widely available to youth countrywide. Youth Ambassador Alumni, Devannie Apollonio, says that she personally has struggled with some of the issues being discussed and knows that other youths are looking for a safe place to speak about their issues.
Present at the inauguration were Deputy Mayor of Belize City Allan Pollard and United States Ambassador to Belize, Her Excellency Michelle Kwan.
