National Agriculture and Trade Show Kicks Off in Belmopan

The 52nd annual National Agriculture and Trade Show officially opened this evening at the showgrounds in Belmopan.  The event caters to local producers across the country, affording them the opportunity to showcase their harvests as well as other locally manufactured goods and services.  The ceremony took place this afternoon with the Minister of Agriculture, Abelardo Mai, delivering the keynote address.

The main highlight of this afternoon’s event was the sashing of the farmers of the year.  Other items on the agenda included the inspection of the guard of honor by Her Excellency Dame Froyla Tzalam, as well as a musical interlude by a local group.  Guest speaker was the Director of Technical Cooperation IICA, Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim.  

The welcome address was delivered by Belmopan’s Mayor, Pablo Cawich, while the vote of thanks was delivered by CEO Servulo Baeza.
