A road traffic incident occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m. today near Mile 41 on the George Price Highway, just outside Cotton Tree Village. The collision, which took place near a hill in the area, involved three vehicles and caused significant traffic disruption in both directions. Preliminary reports indicate that the incident unfolded when one of the vehicles attempted to overtake an 18-wheeler. During the maneuver, the overtaking vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming pickup truck, resulting in a chain-reaction crash involving a third vehicle. Love News Belmopan Correspondent Ljay Wade was on the scene and provided real-time updates. Emergency services responded swiftly, and while details on the extent of injuries remain unclear, at least two individuals were seen receiving medical attention at the scene.
LJay Wade, Belmopan Correspondent: “This pickup was involved in the accident and received most of the damages but the word on the ground that we’re hearing is that no-one was killed in this road traffic accident thank God despite it looking pretty bad we have come to learn that everyone managed to walk away from this accident. So that is some good news. Like I said someone, an eyewitness told us that this was a three vehicle accident that was caused by one of these two cars trying to overtake a truck just like this one passing. He said a big vehicle was traveling in the direction to Belize City when that white truck over there tried overtake and collided into oncoming traffic.”
No fatalities have been reported.
