LPG Prices to Drop by 9 Cents Per Gallon

Consumers will pay slightly less for liquefied petroleum gas, or LPG, tomorrow.  The Supplies Control Unit has announced a nine-cent reduction per gallon for the latest shipment of imported cooking gas. The decrease is being attributed primarily to a lower acquisition price. Under the new controlled prices, LPG will retail in urban areas at one dollar and thirty-five cents per pound, or five dollars and ninety-two cents per gallon. The urban rate applies in Belize City, Belmopan, San Ignacio, Benque Viejo del Carmen, Orange Walk, Corozal, Dangriga and Punta Gorda.  Consumers in rural areas across all six districts will pay one dollar and thirty-eight cents per pound, or six dollars and two cents per gallon.  The import wholesale price has been set at four dollars and thirty-two cents per gallon countrywide.  The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and New Growth Industries says the prices apply to imported LPG containing the required mixture of seventy percent propane and thirty percent butane, in accordance with Belize’s national standard.
