Belize Central Prison Mourns Brianna Myvett After Deadly Belize City Shooting

An altar displaying the photograph of 20-year-old Brianna Myvett has been set up at the Belize Central Prison, where staff are mourning the loss of their colleague. The simple memorial includes flowers, candles and sporting items associated with Myvett, who served as the captain of the winning team during the prison’s recent Kolbe Week activities.  Myvett worked in the prison’s Parole Department for one year and three months. She was killed in a shooting on Freetown Road in Belize City last night.  At approximately ten-fifty, Myvett and 24-year-old Alexanda Carr were seated inside a Ford Escape parked outside a beverage store near ITVET when a black Chevrolet Equinox reportedly pulled alongside them. Someone inside the vehicle opened fire, striking both occupants multiple times.  Myvett was fatally wounded, while Carr, a former police officer, sustained several gunshot wounds to his upper body. He remains hospitalized in stable but critical condition.  Love News understands that police later intercepted a vehicle matching the description of the suspected getaway vehicle and detained its occupants for questioning.  Investigators have not officially established a motive. However, they are examining several theories, including whether the attack was connected to a personal relationship involving Carr.
