Escaped Prisoner Brian Castillo Captured

Escaped prisoner Brian Castillo was captured by police on the Valley of Peace Road on Friday night. The accused murderer and William Carabantes eluded officers during a transfer from the courthouse in Belmopan to the Belize Central Prison last Thursday. The men picked their handcuffs and jumped out of a police mobile at a bump in Cotton Tree Village. Assistant Commissioner of Police says that Castillo has since been taken back to prison, while Carabantes, indicted on multiple counts of rape, remains at large.

Castillo had been on remand since 2021 for the murder of his common-law wife, Jennifer Archila, and stepdaughter, Nitzia Catzim. If you have any information about Carabrantes’ whereabouts you are asked to immediately call the police.
