Family Desperate as 14-Year-Old Nelly Diaz Missing for 48 Hours: Public Urged to Help

It has been more than 48 hours since 14-year-old, Nelly Maria Diaz, left her home in Santa Cruz Village in the Stann Creek District.  The family is concerned since the Police have come up empty in their investigation.  The child reportedly left home at around one-thirty on Saturday afternoon, saying she was going to a friend’s house to do homework.  It turns out that was not an accurate story, and now the family is trying to get her back home.  The parents went to the police station on Saturday evening to file a report, saying they don’t know their daughter’s whereabouts, but they were told that an investigation could not be launched until 24 hours had passed.  Tonight, 48 hours have passed, and Police have no clue as to where the child might be.  The family is now appealing to the public to assist in locating Nelly.  She was last seen wearing long blue pants, a black blouse, and red tennis shoes. According to Diaz’s aunt, Jennifer Bonilla, this is not something that the family expected since the teen rarely left the house. Anyone with knowledge of Nelly’s location is urged to call 655-2423, 911, 922, or the nearest police station.
