A woman accused of scamming people for money using a fake Facebook profile of Deputy Prime Minister, Cordel Hyde, was granted bail today in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court. Thirty-seven-year-old, San Pedro resident Ada Ethel Toro appeared unrepresented in court and was charged with two counts of obtaining property by deception. She pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of one thousand dollars plus one surety of the same, which she met. Toro is accused of scamming Natalie Gotoy out of five hundred dollars, by claiming she was the DPM and would assist with speeding up a land transaction. In last night’s newscast, we told you of another case where Toro scammed another woman of one thousand dollars. We understand that arraignment for that charge is still pending.
